We offer a structured program where clerks learn through a combination of hands-on experience, training, coaching and observation. All of our clerks have the opportunity to:
- Attend client meetings
- Observe court proceedings
- Conduct legal research
- Develop technical skills in areas such as drafting, due diligence and discovery
- Participate in team meetings, training and continuing legal education programs
You’ll be supported by a supervising partner, a mentor and a secretary, and your buddy and our well-resourced corporate services team will be there to assist throughout the program.
Clerks are also encouraged to participate in Firm social events – Friday night drinks, the Christmas party, and other social and sporting activities. We want to ensure that you not only gain valuable experience from your clerkship, but also have fun doing so!
The application process:
Applications should be made through cvmail or the firm’s website prior to COB 23 March , and addressed to Ingrid Kemp, People & Development Business Partner.
Candidates successful through to the first stage can expect to receive a phone call for a brief phone interview. The second stage of our process is a face-to-face interview, and our final stage is a networking evening with members of the firm.
Offers will be made on 11 May 2015. There will be two 4-week programs: approximately 23 November – 18 December 2015 (Program 1) and 18 January to 12 February 2016 (Program 2).
Students who complete a clerkship with the firm will be eligible to be considered for a position in the firm’s next graduate program, commencing in 2017.
