Cloth Concepts is a textile development company based in Sydney.
We work with designers and fashion houses throughout Australia and New Zealand developing exclusive fabrics and prints.
Our fabrics are on trend and inspired by International fairs, shows and forecasts and are sourced from our many suppliers in Italy, Japan, China and Korea.
We represent international and local print studios, showing their print collections to show to our extensive customer base.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about Textile Design and needs to undertake professional internship experience as part of their course requirements.
By spending time with our small, dynamic team you will gain an in depth insight into many facets of the Textile and Fashion Industries.
The Design Intern’s role will include shadowing our Textile Designer and in doing so have the opportunity to work on a variety of current projects and tasks, including but not limited to: artwork design, developments of repeat pattern, developing colour ways, fabric sourcing and trend research.
In order to gain a well-rounded impression of how our business operates, you will also be involved with other areas of our office. This will include basic admin tasks such as processing incoming / outgoing post, new studio samples and fabric swatching.
For the duration of the internship you will work closely with the Designer to learn and develop as a professional in this field. This role would ideally suit a final year student from a design degree (i.e Textile or Fashion Design) who needs to complete an internship as part of their studies.
You will need to be:
– Eager to learn and willing to communicate and collaborate with our team
– Able to take direction from the designer and other staff on daily tasks
– Able to use initiative when unsupervised
– Available 2-3 days a week
– Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and good time management
– Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills
– Sound knowledge of print techniques
– Sound technical knowledge of fabrics
– Ability to develop repeat pattern from print artworks
