Duties This position, in the Legislation, Communication and Review unit, provides internal legal interpretation and advice to the Branch, assists the identification and progression of solutions to legislative deficiencies, responds to Right to Information requests, Personal Information Protection and Ombudsman queries relating to State taxation and grant matters, determines taxpayer objections and assists with the review, appeal and prosecution processes.

In the context of the selection criteria, to be successful in the position applicants will have:

• a legal interpretation background with the ability to undertake specialist taxation research, including the input into policy deliberations and the development of legislative amendments and State Revenue Office publications;
• demonstrated skills and experience in undertaking the internal review of decisions; managing Magistrates Court reviews/Supreme Court appeals and prosecution processes, or similar; and
• the ability to provide authoritative advice combined with high level communication and stakeholder management skills.
