About the Role:
The LNG Project is committed to delivering world class HES performance in design, construction and operation. This is a non-supervisory position in the Environmental and Quarantine Team, supervised by and reporting to the Environmental and Quarantine Superintendent.
The Project is subject to a comprehensive suite of State and Commonwealth environmental and quarantine approval conditions that require the development and implementation of a suite of management plans and supporting management system processes and procedures. The commissioning phase of the project represents a step change in work scope from the construction phase. As such a strong working knowledge of applied environmental and quarantine management for major construction and operating facility activities along with regulatory engagement experience is required
The position will be based on rotation with a back to back position and be a member of the site based integrated Environmental and Quarantine team responsible for managing the implementation of the Project environmental and quarantine management programs.
Key responsibilities will include:
Primary accountability for the implementation, training, day-to-day mentoring and awareness requirements, monitoring responsibilities, reporting, and inspection regimes associated with the Project Commissioning and Start Up.
Planning, distribution and implementation of the environmental management activities including waste management and forecasting for LNG Plant commissioning activities and the provision of environmental advice (technical, regulatory and compliance related) to the site based commissioning and startup disciplines and their contractor organisations.
Focal point of environmental interface for Commissioning and Start Up between Project Development and Execution Process Phase 4 (Project) and Phase 5 (Operations).
Focal point under the commissioning works for risk management and incident management including:
- Identification, assessment and mitigation of risks associated with commissioning works including HazID, Job Hazard Analysis, Standard Operating Procedures, Commissioning Test Procedures and Work Method Statements review.
- Environmental incident management. Incident response, reporting, investigation and the development of actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Accountability for verification of environmental aspects and deliverables as required by the Project documentation, inter alia basis of design documents and in particular environmental protection equipment, regulatory commitments associated with Ministerial environmental management plans and any resultant changes from the MOC process.
Responsible to ensure relevant environmental performance on site. Provision of status reports on the environmental performance of LNG Plant Commissioning activities.
Essential knowledge, qualifications and experience required:
Preferred candidate(s) would have more than 8 years’ experience in working in the environmental management field, ideally with experience in areas of high environmental sensitivities and commissioning of major hazard facilities.
WA North West experience would be beneficial.
Candidates will also have a minimum of 3– 5 years relevant and practical field operational experience and/or experience in major construction projects and/or industrial operational environments, ideally with large grassroots petro chemical projects focus.
This is a non-supervisory (at least initially) site based back to back position with a high degree of independence and interface requirements.
The candidate must be a self-starter with strong and demonstrable experience and skills in stakeholder engagement and management, contractor liaison and with implementation of construction environmental management programs.
Experience in environmental auditing, reporting and LNG processing facilities would be beneficial and practical knowledge of, incident investigation and management are highly desirable.
Qualifications or experience in environmental engineering would be desirable as would experience and qualifications in fauna handling.
Environmental science or engineering degree (or similar)
Practical knowledge of relevant Western Australian and Commonwealth environmental legislation is essential
Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication
