We are looking for an Business Development Manager to join the Sales team to build and maintain strong strategic commercial relationships with a dedicated panel of Vero brokers both within Adelaide and the Northern Territory. The role involves influencing and collaboratively networking with underwriters, claims and credit teams to deliver customer-focused service to help brokers grow their business. The role is responsible for joint strategy development and objective setting with Brokers and following through on all supporting activities to ultimately deliver GWP retention, profitable growth and broker satisfaction.

Some Key Accountabilities of the role are as follows:

  • Planning and maintaining collaborative partnerships with key staff (particularly at executive level) in broker panel offices in line with established service and value propositions
  • Developing an intimate understanding of each broker’s business structure, complexity, political drivers, culture, clients, issues, risks, needs, systems, constraints and objectives
  • Coordinating influential internal stakeholders and key brokerage staff in strategic business planning activities to develop competitive strategies (that include both a short-term and long-term view), joint objectives, supporting activities and a monitoring plan that focus on the achievement of joint growth
  • Customising Vero’s service and value propositions and target markets as well as specific product features, target markets, advantages and benefits to match broker needs
  • Gathering and analysing industry and market intelligence to identify opportunities and trends and share these insights to build understanding and improve Vero’s competitive advantage and positioning
  • Coordinating meetings, developing and delivering training and sophisticated bespoke presentations, hosting and entertaining large groups and influential stakeholders
  • Managing a strategic relationship with brokers in the Northern Territory on a regular fly in/fly out basis as well as a panel of local Adelaide brokers

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Experience in in sales, broking and insurance
  • Tier 1 and 2 Insurance Broking Operations is highly regarded
  • Commercial understanding of the general insurance market, products and underwriting
  • Exceptional relationship management skills, a demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative strategic and commercial partnerships, relationships and networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presenting and facilitating skills
  • Demonstrated planning around business strategies, objectives and activities
  • Appreciation of and commitment to exceptional customer service
  • The ability to research and analyse multiple sources of information to highlight potential areas of concern and identify opportunities and trends.
