A fantastic career opportunity exists with Sodexo Remotes Sites, a recognised leader in the provision of high quality food and total management services to the mining, construction and oil/gas industry in Australia and throughout Asia Pacific.

Sodexo Remote Sites is seeking a highly passionate and suitably qualified HSEQ Co-ordinator to join our Queensland team. Reporting directly to the HSEQ Regional Manager, this role will be accountable for implementation, education and monitoring of Safety, Environment and Quality Strategies for a Sodexo remote site in Queensland.

This full time site based position is FIFO Cairns or Brisbane working on a 20 days on and 8 days off roster (20:8).

Reporting to the Regional HSE Manager, the position will be responsible for supporting the Facility management team (village services and building maintenance) with the implementation, education and monitoring of health, safety and environmental strategies.

The role will include but is not limited to the following:

Establish a strong link with senior management, operations, clients and service partners to ensure effective management of HSE;

Working closely with direct reports, advising and mentoring;

Mentoring and coaching personnel in the use and applications of software programs;

Undertake continuous improvement activities in accordance with our management plan and improvement strategies;

Undertaking comprehensive incident investigations;

Manage company and client-driven HSE activities and programs;

Preparation of HSEQ monthly reports to Sodexo senior management;

Identify and report hazard / incident / improvement to direct supervisor or manager in a timely manner;

Review JHAs and update Safe Operating Procedures with personnel, as required;

Comply with HACCP plans and train staff according to respective requirements;

Risk assessment and safety inductions for all involved personnel/contractors;

Support the Regional HSEQ Manager in the HSEQ activities;

Ensure legal compliance with existing and proposed legislation, and

Other general on site duties as required.

Qualifications and experience required:

A minimum of 5 years’ HSE experience in a similar role preferably working within the mining industry or remote sites in a HSE capacity

Be suitably degree qualified – Diploma in OHS / Science / Advanced

Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment Ability to immediately identify, report and act on any environmental hazards and/or incidents

A solid understanding of the hospitality and/or resources/soft services industry, or similar

High level of computer proficiency

Internal Auditing experience

Well-developed communication skills and the ability to liaise with various levels of management, clients and employees.

Strong leadership qualities

The ability to identify areas for improvement and implement systems, policies and procedures.

Experience in a Building Maintenance Safety related discipline (desirable)

Experience with incident investigation training (Essential Factor/ TapRoot desirable)

Current Manual Car Licence

Accredited Auditor (desirable)

Exposure to Management Systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, HACCP, ISO 22000, AS4801 and OHSAS 18001 (preferable)
