Shoalhaven City Council is a dynamic and progressive organisation serving a large and diverse community. The ideal place to combine professional challenge with a relaxed coastal lifestyle, encompassing the sea-side villages of Huskisson, Vincentia and Ulladulla, the Shoalhaven is located 2 hours South of Sydney and 1 hour South of Wollongong.
Council is currently seeking to appoint an experienced Accountant who can demonstrate self-motivation and inter-personal skills. You will provide accounting services for Council’s Section 94 Contributions Plan and advice to Strategic Planners on the review of the current plan. Due to the review of the plan the position will be full time 35 hrs/week for the first year and then become a permanent part time position working a minimum of 21 hours per week. This position offers the successful candidate further career progression with the Finance Team at Council.
Your New Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the focus of this position is to:
Accounting for the Section 94 Contributions Plan including: import of income, allocation of interest, changes to projects through revisions, monthly expenditure allocations, monthly reconciliation of Section 94 Contributions Cash balance and the preparation the end of financial year summary for inclusion in Council’s Financial Statements
Provide accounting services for the review of Council’s Section 94 Contributions plan in accordance with relevant legislation.
Create, revise and document procedures for accounting of the Section 94 Contributions Plan
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
Degree in business or commerce
Minimum 5 years’ experience within an accounting / finance administration environment
Demonstrated accounting experience including reconciliations, the use of spreadsheets and experience with large organisation accounting systems.
Highly developed written and oral communication skills to the extent necessary to provide management reports and other relative financial information.
A highly-developed understanding of and ability to use computer application, particularly Microsoft Access and Excel.
Prior experience and knowledge of the NSW Environmental Planning & Assessment Act and Regulation as they relate to development contributions will be highly regarded.
