The Banking and Allocation Officer’s role is
primarily responsible for supporting business and financial operations at the
Service Centres, including educating and supporting centres to develop
financial capability and improve accountability in financial business decision
This role assists with the reconciliation of
cash deposits (and associated bank related activities) and with providing
advice to Service Centres in matters relating to systems balancing and reconciling
Support the Team Leader by providing advice relating
to banking policies, procedures and systems that enable effective end-of-day
reconciliations in a continually changing service delivery environment.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives to
address identified inefficiencies resulting from changing demands, and ensure
required processes are established to meet changing needs.
Provide support to the Service Delivery Team in
the areas of cash deposits, under & overs in Service Centre banking, system
improvements, and resolving banking variances (cash collected vs cash count
and/or system vs cash count) etc.
Work collaboratively with Armaguard to administer and
reconcile deposits and ensure they are submitted on-time.
Contribute to the development and refinement of the
finance operations team manual and business plan.
Provide first level support and issue resolution for Service
Centres on matters relating to the management of cash deposits and end-of-day
reconciliations for Service NSW.
Perform, validate and check banking documentation for
all Service Centres to ensure that documents are received on-time and are
accurate (including any non-balance reports).
Perform regular reviews of end-of-day cash balancing,
including the identification of reconciling items and provide recommendations
to managers and coordinators for system enhancements where applicable.
Provide advice to the Team Leader on matters relating
to systems balancing and reconciling items that can be resolved by improving procedures,
processes and reporting the functionality of systems.
Release various transactions in the COL banking
platform relating to electronic funds transfers in accordance with policies and
procedures within approved financial delegation.
Provide weekly/monthly status reports to Service
Centre managers and the Team Leader.
Work as a member of a team and build effective
relationships with Service Centre managers and coordinators.
Demonstrated high level of knowledge of financial accounting processes,
practices and related financial banking and reconciliation functions
Sound experience with computerised financial systems (e.g. SAP or
equivalent) including Excel skills, and solid knowledge of the MS Office
applications such as Word
Knowledge of contemporary financial management, current public sector
financial management policies, practices and procedures, and ability to provide
professional advice and recommendations on these matters for consideration
Experience in a high volume transactional business environment
Sound oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability
to resolve issues with a diverse range of people
Sound numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and work to strict
Evidence of being highly organised and efficient
Evidence of capacity to be an effective member of a team
qualifications in Finance or in a related discipline
