Acacia Prison is Western Australia’s largest prison located approximately 50 km east of Perth. The medium security facility operated by Serco is responsible for the management of 1,400 male prisoners. We take pride in providing health care, education and rehabilitation services that empower our patients to be responsible for their health

We are seeking experienced medication assistants to the fill the role of Medication Assistant working under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse. This is responsible for the safe administration of prescribed medications, maintaining all patient health records, maintaining confidentiality by securing health records and information, completing general pharmacy duties and telephone enquiries, assisting administrative duties as required and completing general pharmacy duties.

Essential Experience:

Ability to prioritise work requirements to ensure effective efficient operations

Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team demonstrating initiative and flexibility in an environment subject to pressure and change.

Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, negotiate and resolve conflict with those that may display challenging behaviours or come from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds.

Desirable Experience:

Ability to perform a range of pharmaceutical and administrative duties

Commitment to Rehabilitation Process and understanding of common Primary Health concerns for Prisoners.

Demonstrated ability to deliver a high standard of communication in a prison setting

An ability to use a computer at a level that facilitates work practices (particularly to the electronic health record) or the ability to quickly acquire these skills.

This is a full time position working a Monday to Sunday roster, approximately 12 hour shift.
