Are you passionate about writing and performance with a keen interest in community cultural development? Or are you just really organised and love the arts?

WHAT Word Travels is looking for an enthusiastic Program Administrator intern to help us bring programs like Australian Poetry Slam to life.

Working closely with the Word Travels team to produce a range of creative projects, you’ll build your skills while connecting with lots of organisations and artists from across Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

It’s ideal for an emerging arts manager or producer looking to develop a career across writing, theatre, government, arts festivals and/or site specific projects.

The Program Administrator role is voluntary and requires 10-16 hours per week, ideally 2-4 part-time days during office hours.

Ideal candidates will have experience in all or most of the following areas:

  • Arts administration or arts management
  • High level organisational skills
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Book-keeping
  • High level computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Database development, CRM system development
  • Demonstrated capacity to meet deadlines
  • Excellent copywriting and proofing skills
  • Graphic Design
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Help inspire a love of performance and writing while catapulting new artists onto international stages.

WHO Word Travels is a not-for-profit arts association that organises literary and literacy programs for communities, libraries, schools, festivals, private companies and cultural institutions.

Our main objective is to inspire people to tell their stories in creative ways, primarily through live performance.

We organise projects around Australia, in China, Indonesia, New Zealand and more; developing new writers in urban and regional communities. Our largest initiative is our international performing writers’ program: Australian Poetry Slam (APS).
