The Ultrasound department plays a pivotal role within the hospital environment. It is incorporated within the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, with services across both RNSH and Ryde Hospitals; this position is predominantly positioned at Ryde Hospital. Although mostly performing general ultrasound scanning, the successful applicant must also be capable of performing Vascular, obstetric and muscuoloskeletal ultrasound. Trainee sonographers work in close liaison with more senior sonographers, hospital medical officers, Staff Specialist Radiologists and Radiology Registrars.

A vacancy exists for a Temporary full-time Radiographer at Ryde Hospital, at Level 3 Grade 3 award, to join a small dedicated team at Ryde Hospital. The role requires a dynamic personality, capable of multi-tasking, and possessing a strong attention to detail. This position shall be required to work as a Radiographer/Sonographer working rotational shift within the Ryde Hospital Medical Imaging department, supporting inpatients and a small Emergency Department. Some weekend work and on-call is required as part of the role. Where rostered shifts are not within ultrasound, experience in providing imaging services in Xray, mobiles and theatres is expected; capability to perform CT would be beneficial.

The successful applicant must have more than 6 months recent clinical Ultrasound experience with the ability to scan independently, and of particular importance is the capability to scan all Vascular regions including carotid, upper and lower dopplers. Radiology Ryde provides 24/7 service and is a multi-modality department. Modalities installed on site include General, Theatres, CT, and Ultrasound.

This position is Temporary Full-Time/Part-Time and is classified as a Radiographer Level 3 Grade 3.

Possession of Registration with the MRPB paid as a Radiographer Level 3 Grade 3


Without registration with the MRPB will be paid as a Sonographer

Selection Criteria
• Current AIR Statement of Accreditation, EPA Radiation Licence, ASAR Registration and recent clinical experience; possession of Registration with the MRPB. Must possess appropriate recognised postgraduate diploma in Ultrasound.

• Establishment of clinical protocols, manuals, quality assurance and departmental Continuous Quality Improvement activities.

• Ability to perform complex clinical procedures within specialist modality with a high degree of competency.

• Ability to work as part of a team and organise individual work in an effective manner.

• Physical ability to perform radiographic and normal associated tasks.

• Professional manner and demonstrated ability to accept responsibility.
