Northern Health seeks enthusiastic applicants interested in Rehabilitation Medicine to fill a six month Registrar training position accredited by the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, commencing August 2017.
The workload is focused mainly on Neurological and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, plus a small proportion of General Rehabilitation covering a variety of diagnoses. The duties are varied and include medical care of patients, supervision of junior doctors, attendance at ward rounds, case conferences, family meetings and outpatient clinics, and assessment of referrals from acute care.
Educational opportunities include onsite tutorials, attendance at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Registrar Training Program and participation in training sessions at training facilities outside of Northern Health with whom we have a close working relationship.
This position is ideal for doctors in the early phase of their rehabilitation training, who are looking for a sound introduction to common rehabilitation problems, and will provide valuable experience as a foundation for their ongoing training. The positions have also proved valuable to advanced trainees looking to consolidate their knowledge prior to Fellowship exams.
Preference will be given to accredited trainees of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. Applicants must be able to be registered in Victoria and have completed two full years’ postgraduate supervised training in general medical and surgical areas.
