Provide education, advice and support to patients and other clinicians regarding the care of patients with obesity and metabolic syndrome….

Provide a comprehensive midwifery service to women identified as meeting the OPAL criteria as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Work with the Midwives, Obstetricians, Physicians, Psychologist, Dietitian, Physiotherapist, Administrative staff and nursing staff associated with the NBMLHD Antenatal Clinic and the Obesity Services.

Provide education, advice and support to patients and other clinicians regarding the care of patients with obesity and metabolic syndrome.

The role will require the incumbent to provide evidence-based practices relating to the assessment, prescription, cognitive-behavioural interventions and programs and delivery of individual and group based education sessions for patients of the NBMLHD OPAL Service.

To maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NMBLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

The NBMLHD OPAL Clinic is multi-disciplinary team seeking an enthusiastic midwife to take on this newly created and challenging position. The OPAL clinic manages outpatient women with a high BMI during pregnancy. The focus of the service is on providing lifestyle advice as well as planning for delivery and post partum care and follow up. The successful midwife will be part of the multi disciplinary NBMLHD Family Obesity Services.

Selection Criteria
Current registration with AHPRA Registered Midwife (Division 1).

Recent Midwifery experience in a Tertiary Hospital setting.

Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated effective time management skills.

Demonstrated commitment to professional development and knowledge of and experience with Quality Improvement and Evidence Based Practice.

Current NSW driver’s licence.
