The Senior Acute Stroke/ Hospital in the Home Physiotherapist is responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient physiotherapy services to clients within the Wagga Wagga Health Service (Murrumbidgee Local Health District).

  • The position involves a range of specialised clinical and administrative functions necessary for the delivery of physiotherapy services.
  • The position, based at Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital (WWRRH), has responsibility for the provision of physiotherapy services to the acute stroke unit and hospital in the home clients at WWRRH. The position also covers other areas of the hospital on a needs basis including acute wards, rehabilitation and outpatients.
  • The senior physiotherapist will also provide clinical supervision and support to Level 1 and 2 physiotherapists.
  • Senior Level 3 Physiotherapist for the Acute Stroke Unit and Hospital in the Home. Needs to be able to work Thursdays and Fridays in this role.

    Selection Criteria
    Degree in physiotherapy and current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency

    Extensive experience working as a physiotherapist in acute stroke care and community services/ hospital in the home.

    Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of evidence based assessment and intervention to patients with neurological conditions, also general physiotherapy clients in hospital and in the community

    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and health care providers.

    Demonstrated ability to initiate, complete and evaluate quality improvement projects.

    Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads in order to achieve effective and efficient service provision.

    Demonstrated ability to supervise students and junior physiotherapy staff.

    Evidence of a current Class C drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
