  • Brand New supported accommodation located at Albany Creek
  • Your chance to be part of a team of like-minded individuals making life better for people living with progressive neurological diseases
  • An opportunity to work for an organisation with strongly held values: Hope, Respect, Collaboration and Commitment

MS Queensland is a non-profit organisation that is the first-choice for MS information, education, treatment, care and support across Queensland. We exist to help people living with MS and other progressive neurological diseases to get the best out of life; to advocate for change and to search for a cure.

We’re excited that our new Albany Creek location is due to commence operation in June 2017. This site will be home for up to 11 people living in individual units who require varying degrees of support to live their lives as independently as possible. The staffing model consists of round the clock support including awake night shifts. The role will include tasks such as:

  • Personal care and support
  • Assisting people to access the community of their choice
  • Assistance with exercise therapy and medication
  • Assistance with domestic activities such as shopping, housework, washing, etc.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated Support Workers who can demonstrate MS Queensland’s values in their approach to assisting people living with MS and other progressive neurological diseases to get the best out of life.

If you have the following skills and experience and you want to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.

Essential:

  • Ability to work effectively, compassionately and independently with customers in their home and in the community
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound computer skills that will enable comprehensive report writing for each customer.
  • Ability to obtain a Positive Notice: satisfactory completion of DSQ criminal history check (provided by MSQ).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current ‘open’ driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • Minimum qualification of Certificate III in Disability Services or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in the disability sector.

Recognising that our employees are integral to the success of our organisation, we offer a range of professional development opportunities, workplace benefits and salary packaging options. We can also offer minimum shifts of 7.5.

MS Queensland will commence application shortlisting as they are being received. Therefore, don’t delay in sending in your application if you’re interested in the role.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a pre-placement health assessment to disclose any pre-existing injuries or conditions that could impact the individual’s ability to undertake the inherent requirement of the role.
