    About the role:

    The Standby Response Service is a community-based active postvention program to assist families, friends and associates who have been bereaved through suicide. We are looking for a compassionate and professional Coordinator to provide assistance and work with a team to ensure people throughout the Pilbara region are supported appropriately. The service encourages cultural sensitivity along with ensuring local agencies are supported to provide the best response for individual clients who have been impacted by suicide.


    • Co-ordinate a pool of competent volunteer crisis response team members in accordance with Mission Australia procedures
    • Provide debriefing for Crisis Response Team members and oversee the use of external supervision per the StandBy Professional Supervision Framework.
    • Deliver community education sessions, assist to facilitate workshops and promote StandBy program to develop integrated responses to suicide within various areas in the Pilbara and to document in referral plans and pathways.
    • Maintain StandBy database systems including inputting and analysing data, complete reports as required by the Program Manager, Steering Committee and United Synergies.

    Preferable Experience:

    • Tertiary qualification- diploma or degree in social/human services (Dip in mental health a preference)
    • Demonstrated experience in engaging and working therapeutically with families in a variety of community settings.
    • Ability to network and develop effective working relationships at all levels of the community
    • Proven ability to work co-operatively in a small team environment and independently
    • Drivers Licence
    • Ability to participate in weekly outreach to Indigenous communities
