  • 3 Yr Fixed Term Contract till 2020

About the role

As a Child & Family Support worker, you will provide case management and group support focussed on improving the long-term outcomes for vulnerable children 0-18 at risk of, or affected by mental illness. You will deliver tailored 1:1 counselling and evidence based group programs that focus on building resilience and educating children and their families about mental health.

Duties

  • Client Support - respond, induct & provide individualised client recovery plans, in a timely manner as well as participate in group client/consumer in-group sessions
  • Program Support – participate, develop & build strong internal & external relationships with key stakeholders
  • Administration - ensure accurate & timely records of all client case management files, as per Mission Australia’s protocol
  • Client Harm Prevention & Minimisation - comply with relevant legislation including Mission Australia’s polices & procedures to ensure harm minimisation & prevention at all times

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable children and their families
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Social Welfare
  • Certificate IV in Community Services / Mental Health would be advantageous
  • Commitment to ensuring compliance as per Health, Safety and Welfare requirements
  • A genuine passion & drive in providing a flexible & responsive service at all times
  • A strong alignment to Mission Australia’s purpose and values

As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National criminal history check.
