Within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Registrar) portfolio, Campus Life focuses on cultivating a broader academic experience for students at Macquarie University. They strive to deliver a range of non-academic services and experiences to engage students and staff, ensuring their campus life is reflective of the University culture, and is a great place to study, play and relax.

As part of Campus Life, the Events and Protocol team develops, manages and produces public lectures, seminars and other events that contribute to the University’s image and reputation, encourage participation within the University, engage the wider community, show case the University to external stakeholders and foster Macquarie’s reputation for research.

The Role

The Events and Protocol team is seeking an enthusiastic Events & Protocol Officer to support the documentation of event protocols and increase audience engagement through brand compliant, targeted event communications. Responsibilities of this role will include copywriting, proofing and design for event-based campaigns. With strong digital and systems knowledge, the incumbent will become the go to team member for our online central event management system. Having a high attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional communication campaigns is key to success in this role, as is being focused on delivering the best possible outcomes and experience for stakeholders, attendees and the University.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, applicants must respond to the selection criteria in a cover letter of no more than 2 pages.

  • Bachelor of Communications or equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to effectively utilise digital systems for communication campaigns (use of event management software will be highly regarded)
  • Awareness of protocols, structures and procedures in Government departments, agencies, public and private sector organisations
  • Proven ability to write for a range of mediums and audiences
  • Demonstrated experience in campaign planning, coordination and delivery to the highest standards
  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Track record of contributing to a dynamic, high performing team in a fast-paced environment

Salary Package: From $77,894 – $85,982 p.a. (Level 6), plus 9.5% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading
