DevOps Analyst – Macquarie Asset Management – Sydney

DYNAMIC OPPORTUNITY IN FRONT OFFICE TECHNOLOGY

This is a great opportunity to work in a growing business within Macquarie. Our applications are a mixture of in-house developed, and vendor applications. This is a customer facing role, requiring interaction with all levels of business personnel.

Key responsibilities:

  • Key point of contact for the business on day to day issues across a number of business-critical applications
  • Prioritizing and resolving day-to-day systems issues and client requests in a timely manner, effectively managing client expectations and escalating where appropriate. This includes:
    • Supporting MAM Front and Back Office Systems across a mixture of 2-tier and 3-tier architectures
    • Providing excellent service to the business by being responsive and communicative
    • Be able to provide appropriate business context when working with other teams within Technology
  • Involvement in a number of projects from a DevOps perspective, working closely with Platform teams to deliver new applications, infrastructure / software upgrades and business-driven enhancements
  • Involvement in application deployment activities as well as testing of changes impacting MAM applications
  • Participation in risk activities such as DR testing and proactive risk mitigation initiatives

About you :

Degree qualified in Computer Science or similar, preferably with software support or development background / strong technical ability in Java / J2EE / SQL / Unix / Scripting / JBoss, with 5+ years of application support or development experience within financial services. Being proactive, looking to drive improvements within the team to help reduce business downtime as well as possessing excellent problem solving ability will be key to success. Other skills and experience:

  • Java/J2EE development / strong L2 technical support
  • Good understanding of Unix / Linux shell commands and scripting
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with Relational Databases (preferably Sybase, MS SQL or Oracle), including strong scripting skills
  • Familiarity with ITIL principles of Incident/Change/Problem Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a strong sense of ownership and urgency with a desire to provide excellent customer service
  • The ability and desire to learn new technologies and application knowledge quickly
  • Experience working in Asset Management or other Financial Services businesses strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate independently, to be proactive, and able to interact with stakeholders across all levels
  • Experience with any of thinkFolio, Dimension or WebMethods will be valued
