ABOUT THE TEAM: The Research and Knowledge Translation Team is responsible for the management of the research and knowledge translation activities required to meet the strategic and operational objectives of the Lowitja Institute. These activates are generally carried out by our research partners. The Team will also develop the annual research plan and work closely with the Research Program committees in developing the Lowitja Institute research priorities. POSITION PURPOSE: As a member of the Research and Knowledge Translation team, you will work within the Lowitja Institute’s broader activities. In the context of work being undertaken by the Lowitja Institute, one of its main activities is Insight which converts key elements of research findings into approaches for evidence-based decision making by policymakers, communities and service practitioners. The Research and Knowledge Translation team is responsible for the creation and management of the research-related activities and products required to meet the strategic and operational objectives of the Lowitja Institute.

Working across the organisation as a member of the team you will work closely with the Director to contribute to the Lowitja Institute’s Insight agenda. This will include cross team initiatives and consultancies within the research governance structure. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Development, assessment, implementation, monitoring and project-management of activities to ensure the Lowitja Institute meets its CRC Program requirements

• Contribute to the work of the Institute’s business development program • Support the work of the Lowitja Institute’s program Committees, partners and key stakeholders in

identifying key priorities for the research agenda • Oversight on research project and liaison with grantees to ensure high impact knowledge

translation, implementation and quality assurance • Undertake broader analytical, research and writing tasks • Implementation of the program of activities which meet the Lowitja Institute CRC Program

SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential: 1. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of matters concerning the health and wellbeing

of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples 2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

peoples 3. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and experience in research project/program

management and/or research administration 4. Highly developed analytical, conceptual and negotiation skills 5. High level written and oral communication skills 6. Ability to work as an effective team member and to work independently 7. Demonstrated ability to network, liaise and interact effectively with people from a variety of

roles and backgrounds 8. Demonstrated organisational and project-management skills and the ability to work under

pressure to meet tight timelines 9. High level skills in the use of all software 10. The ability to undertake interstate travel. Highly Desirable: 1. Relevant post graduate qualifications 2. Experience working in a research/knowledge-based organisation.
