The Senior Communication Officer will support the Program Manager and Projects Coordinator working in the suicide prevention program area, with a focus on national leadership in the areas of media and communication about suicide, including work on the Mindframe National Media Initiative.

This position will ensure efficient and effective communications services both internally and externally that support the delivery of specific projects. This will include engagement with media and communication professionals, stakeholder engagement, planning and delivery of project events, publications and digital communication for the projects.

This is a Full time position, however job-share arrangements will be considered.

Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications or related discipline, and substantial proven experience in a senior communications role.

Demonstrated superior organisation and time management skills including the ability to simultaneously manage a number of deliverables with competing deadlines.

Demonstrated high-level written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex issues into simple messages and produce comprehensive communications materials in a variety of formats.

Demonstrated capability and experience in media liaison, including issues management.

Demonstrated capacity to persuade, influence and develop sound relationships with stakeholders.

Demonstrated high level oral and interpersonal communication skills, with experience in delivery of training and/or presentations for diverse audiences.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, desktop publishing packages and a knowledge or understanding of web building software.
