Reporting to the Cognitive Technology Lead the Data
Scientist will be responsible for undertaking and supervising Data
Scientist activities to TechCo’s standards within the
prescribed timeframe with a detailed understanding of overarching
company and regulatory obligations.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Designing and implementing processes and layouts or
complex, large scale data sets used for modelling, data mining,
and research purposes.
Conducts Data Analysis and moderately complex design
Develop and plan required analytic projects in response to
In conjunction with data owners and department managers,
contribute to the development of data models and protocols for
mining production databases.
Contribute to the development of new analytical methods
and/or tools as required.
Contribute to data mining architectures, modelling
standards, reporting, and data analysis methodologies.
Conduct research and make recommendations on data mining
products, services, protocols, and standards in support of
procurement and development efforts.
Work with application developers to extract data relevant
Collaborate with unit managers, end users, development
staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data mining results
with existing systems.
Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data
Adhere to change control and testing processes for
modifications to analytical models.
Contribute to the creation of data definitions for new
database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones
as needed for analysis.
Assist with determining required network components to
ensure data access, as well as data consistency and
Respond to and help to resolve data mining performance
issues. Monitor data mining system performance and implement
Accept guidance from Senior Personnel of the team.
Writes reports in clear style, using appropriate
referencing and clarity.
Troubleshoots and implements enhancements and fixes to
systems as needed.
Identifies what data is available and relevant, including
internal and external data sources, leveraging new data
collection processes such as smart meters and geo location
information or social media.
Defines the validity of the information, how long the
information is meaningful and what other information it is
Identifies and analyses patterns.
About the Person
To be successful in this role you will have
Bachelor Degree in a numerical science or engineering eg
Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science
Masters or PHD
Required to possess Computer literacy and applications,
Simulation and modelling, Predictive analytics, the full range
Software languages such as C#, Python, C++, R, Java and
Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience in similar
Familiarity with Agile and Scrum based software
