An opportunity exists for a motivated individual to join the General Medicine Department as a Staff Specialist Physician/Rheumatologist. The Staff Specialist Physician/Rheumatologist is responsible for providing the highest standard of care to the local population and be responsive to the general medical needs of the community. Foster a culture of training and research and drive the standards of clinical care forward. Engage in a vibrant academic environment with medical students and trainees being rewarded with an enriching experience. Be a good clinician, respectful towards their patients and colleagues and be a good communicator. Encouraging a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and recognise their own limitations.
The successful applicant will have well-developed time management and problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and work under minimal supervision. Applicants should also possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively within a team environment. A sound knowledge of computer based software applications including Word/Excel/database management systems is also required.

Essential: Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Medical Practitioner.
Essential: Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent specialist qualification in General Medicine or other.
Essential: Prepared to participate in on-call work and provide appropriate support to junior staff.
Essential: Evidence of being a medical expert, including past experience in a range of areas in General Medicine and Advanced Certificates or similar recognised experience in a subspecialty field. Should be knowledgeable about General Medicine to the level of a RACP Fellow.
Essential: Evidence of being a good communicator, including both oral and written skills and a sensitive approach to clear communication with patients, carers, other professionals and the public.
Essential: Satisfactory National Criminal History Check prior to commencement of employment.
