Currently, our client is seeking an experienced Civil Designer (Drainage) for a full time 6 month contract to start immediately. About the Organisation:

Our client is a Government organisation well recognised for their infrastructure and environmental management expertise.

The Role:
Currently, our client is seeking an experienced Civil Designer (Drainage) for a full time 6 month contract to start immediately.

The Civil Designer (Drainage) will be responsible for (but not limited to):

Manage and co-ordinate projects of limited nature, and undertake a variety of projects related to the investigation, planning, design and documentation of urban stormwater drainage systems, utilising appropriate technical expertise and management skills ensure completion to agreed time, cost and quality objectives.

Be accountable for assigned project tasks, and negotiate with customers where necessary in order to ensure that projects are completed on time and within contractual conditions.

Interpret and apply relevant legislation and guidelines to ensure work is completed according to legal obligations and consistent with Council policies.

Maintain an awareness of, and provide leadership in the implementation of new technology as appropriate, in order to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.

Commission consultants and contractors, prepare tenders and assess tenders in accordance with local practice and Council requirements.

Provide technical on-the-job training of staff to support their personal and professional development.

Supervise and guide less experienced staff in the execution of projects.

Lead and role model customer focused behaviour by solving the Customers issue within level of delegation or escalating for resolution.

Skills & Experience:
To be considered for this position, applicants MUST have/be:
Hold an Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent tertiary qualification.

Ability to manage and deliver projects of limited nature, with a strong focus on customer service and output delivery in accordance with agreed time, cost and quality objectives, with an emphasis on urban stormwater drainage projects.

Demonstrated competency, extensive knowledge and experience in at least two of the following: AutoCAD, 12D and PC Drain.

Demonstrated high level technical competency, knowledge and experience in the investigation, planning, design and documentation of stormwater drainage systems in accordance with QUDM or similar standards.

Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills (including consultative, interpersonal, report writing and negotiation).

Knowledge and experience in other aspects (including relevant legislation and policies) of waterway, catchment and environmental management in an urban context.

Current class ‘C’ driver’s licence.
