Dwyer Durack is a well-respected city law firm that practices in a variety of areas of law with a diverse client base. This position will report to the Managing Director and will require you to provide both legal and administrative support in the areas of Liquor Licensing and Criminal Law. Experience in Commercial Law sector would also be advantageous.

We require an experienced and highly organised Senior Legal Assistant with paralegal skills to support two (2) Senior Lawyers and one (1) Paralegal. It will also be necessary from time to time to provide support to other sections to cover leave.

In addition, you will assist the Managing Director with respect to the firm’s Human Resources Management processes including recruitment and the management of staff leave.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a legal assistant and possess an open and engaging professional style with superior communication skills.

It is essential that you have a flexible approach to your duties and are well organised, as your position will be varied and busy.

The successful applicant must be:

  • Able to cope with pressure, responsibility, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experienced in drafting correspondence and court documents and have an eye for detail
  • Self-motivated and possess initiative
  • Capable of working both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft programmes and have excellent typing skills
  • Confident in dealing directly with clients and service providers.

Your daily duties will consist of:

  • Diary Management
  • File maintenance and management
  • Preparation and maintenance of correspondence files and briefs
  • Summarise evidence and production of tables
  • High level interaction with current and potential clients, barristers and service providers
  • Screening emails and incoming calls, as required
  • Draft, amend and format documents and correspondence
  • Assist in the preparation of liquor licensing applications
  • Assist in the collation of supporting documents/evidence for submissions and briefs
  • Manage monthly billing process including generating accounts and maintaining cost registers
  • Attend meetings and note taking, as required
  • Carry out research tasks, as required
  • Assist the Managing Director with Human Resources Management processes
