An exciting opportunity exists for a Run Plant Engineer (Production Engineer) to join our team in Geelong. Reporting to the Site Leader, you will work as a technical resource to coach and assist the operations team to optimize and improve Environmental, Health & Safety, product quality, reliability of supply and cost optimisation. You will also work with the business and plant schedulers to effectively utilize the plant’s capacity and product mix. You will also work closely with other individuals and teams to establish yearly spending plans, turnaround support, production commitments to the business, and conversion cost goals.

Core Responsibilities:
Application of technical skills within Manage Production work process, to optimize plant operations, resolves plant problems and enables safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products.
Assist work teams on daily operations and process performance so as to run a low cost, on specification, reliable, optimized operation, thereby maximizing value to the business in a safe environmentally friendly manner.
Collection and reporting of production data into corporate reporting tools.
Understands and applies, Deference to Expertise, Sensitivity to Operations, Reluctance to Simplify, Preoccupation with Failure and Resilience to promote the development of a Highly Reliable Organization
Understands all applicable process technology, equipment and control technology. Works with Technical Advising and plant personnel to optimize operations to meet Business and plant goals. (Environmental, Health & Safety, Production, cost, quality, energy, reliability).
Participates when required in advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Ensures findings are documented in Plant OD for future usage.
Provide leadership and direction in the day to day decision making for the operating area of responsibility.
As required, participates on and leads teams in his/her area of accountability
Networks with other engineers on site and within the business to leverage knowledge on plant operations
Ensures Operating Discipline / Operating Discipline Management System requirements are met and include appropriate MET (Most Effective Technology).
Coaches employees on effective implementation and utilization of MET.
Has a continuous improvement mindset with an ability to effect changes through plant work processes and small capital projects.
Works with Plant Process Control Coordination Role to ensure process control is optimized in the facility.
Supports plant roles in procedure usage, creation, reviews, updates and approvals when assigned.
As required communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel, Technology or Expertise centres.
Performs appropriate Manage Production roles as determined by Plant Site Business.
Improves site Quality performance (Final Quality, First Pass Quality, Average Quality Index)

Required Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
Excellent technical communication and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to delivery work process changes in a production atmosphere
Strong relationship & work management skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement
Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt minimum)
