This position will have a particular focus on programs to help improve the energy efficiency of existing and new buildings. The position will support the development of emerging policy and regulatory programs, including setting and improving compliances with standards for energy efficiency in residential properties.
This role will involve investigating and developing new standards for energy efficiency in homes, and strengthening and increasing compliance with existing energy efficiency regulations. Tasks will include analysing problems, costs and benefits; consulting with stakeholders; developing legislation; managing consultancies and a small number of staff; liaising with other government agencies; and preparing authoritative written communications for the Minister, Executive and stakeholders.
The successful applicant will have strong research and analytic capabilities, with quantitative or economic skills highly desirable. The position involves providing direction on energy efficiency policies, and requires an understanding of the energy sector and solutions available. The role involves being responsible for significant work packages; strong organisational and project management skills are required. Activities within this role will require collaboration and consultation with other government agencies and stakeholders. The successful applicant will have the ability to align and integrate related activities. Strong written and communication skills are required, and attention to detail, including to brief the Minister and Executive. The applicant may organise and represent the Department at meetings and forums.
This is a fixed term position until November 2019.
