The NSW Department of Education serves the community by leading the provision of world-class education. The department protects young children by regulating preschool and long day care providers. Once children move into school, we provide them with a world-class primary and secondary education. We also work to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

The Communications and Engagement Directorate is a customer focussed business unit responsible for the development and delivery of communication services for the Department of Education. It is a fully integrated team working across the range of internal and external communications including traditional media, digital, social, employee, design and broader stakeholder engagement.

The major function of this role is to work within and support the School Communication and Engagement team, part of the Communication and Engagement directorate. The role develops and implements strategies and plans to build the capacity of school leaders and help them more effectively engage with their school communities.
