RESEARCH SCIENTIST – MOLECULAR GENETICS

  • $56,361 – $77,259 (Plus Superannuation)

The position of Research Scientist – Molecular Genetics is part of the Agriculture Victoria Research Division’s Genomics & Cellular Sciences team in the Employment, Investment & Trade Group.
The Employment, Investment and Trade Group delivers programs and services to grow the Victorian economy. Its focus is on creating jobs and raising incomes through industry development, targeted investment and increasing the export value of Victorian firms.
This position is part of a team developing improved genomics technologies that will accelerate pulse improvement. As Research Scientist – Molecular Genetics, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of methods and computational tools for association genetics and genomic selection in pulse crops. You will also design and assist in large scale field and glasshouse based trials. This position, which reports to the Senior Research Scientist within the molecular genetics team, will have strong linkages to the pulse breeding programs conducted for Pulse Breeding Australia.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate knowledge of statistical and numerical genetics, and experience in the development and application of advanced computational tools for analysis of genomic and phenomic datasets. You will have the skills to design and assist in the management of large scale field and glasshouse trials, and project management experience. A degree in agriculture science, molecular genetics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, or a related field is required for this position.
