This position sits within a large speech pathology department of over 25 speech pathologists. The Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) comprises a number of community health centres and hospitals located at Gosford, Wyong, Erina, Lakehaven, Woy Woy and Long Jetty. The speech pathology department is also responsible for the provision of professional supervision to a number of speech pathology roles managed within other CCLHD teams.

As a condition of your employment with CCLHD, you may be required to work in any of the facilities within CCLHD. You may also be rostered across other CCLHD sites to cover leave/vacancy as required or be repositioned into another Level 3 paediatric speech pathology position.

This role involves providing speech pathology services to children attending community health clinics, as well as attending Gosford Hospital video fluoroscopic swallow study (VFSS) clinic for paediatric clients.

The position involves administrative and organisational responsibilities as a departmental senior, and providing clinical orientation, direction, supervision, teaching and support to assigned clinicians. The incumbent will work closely with the second senior speech pathologist within the paediatric services team and speech pathology management to coordinate and plan paediatric services across all Central Coast Local Health District sites.

This is a maternity relief position with the possibility of extension at the same/reduced hours. This position may be used to fill future leave relief positions at the same or reduced hours.

Selection Criteria
Degree in Speech Pathology (or equivalent as accredited by Speech Pathology Australia) and current NSW driver’s licence.

Extensive post graduate experience in the assessment and management of paediatric communication and feeding disorders across the age range, within a variety of clinical environments/service delivery models and with demonstrated high level caseload management skills.

Demonstrated high level time management skills with an ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills, and the proven ability to liaise effectively with internal and external agencies.

Demonstrated skills and experience in team leadership and staff clinical supervision and teaching.

Demonstrated experience in service planning and evaluation, leading service improvements and co-ordinating Speech Pathology resources and clinical services.

Demonstrated understanding and commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice principles.

Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated behaviours which align with the NSW Health CORE values and CCLHD Values and behaviours charter.
