    The opportunity

    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager Caltex Aviation Operations, based in at our head office in Sydney CBD. Reporting to the National Manager Aviation Operations and managing a team of 6, you will provide leadership and guidance, implementation and operation of Aviation systems, processes and procedures.

    You will be accountable for incident free operations in storing jet on airport and delivering jet fuel to airlines, ensuring ongoing compliance and auditing, appropriate Joint Venture governance, delivering high standards of customer service, ensuring effective cost management, rostering and inventory control, and continual development and training of yourself and your team. As necessary, this role also supports the management of Caltex’s jet fuel supply on airport at Joint Venture site in a supply crisis.

    The key responsibilities include:

    • Managing the Caltex Aviation Site Mangers to oversee all operational matters and ensure that we continue to have a single point accountability to deliver safe, reliable and efficient operations;
    • Chairing Operating Committee meetings of Aviation sites under Caltex operational control whereby Caltex is operating on behalf of multiple companies
    • Supporting the management of Caltex’s jet fuel supply on airport Joint Venture sites in a supply crisis
    • Implementation and operations of key systems, processes and procedures; as well as ensuring JIG audits are implemented as part of a technical compliance audit program.

    This position primarily works Monday to Friday with regular travel interstate required. Where necessary, weekend work may be required particularly in the event of supply crisis and demand management. This is a full-time, contract opportunity for 12 months.

    Experience required

    You will have a relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated operational experience working within the petroleum, aviation, terminal, pipeline or similar industries. This position requires Aviation technical knowledge, sound understanding of Dangerous Goods regulations, and the ability to implement programs, manage risk, manage high complexity and technical arguments and manage operational functions relating to product distribution.

    You will be a strong people manager with experience providing leadership and guidance, influencing change and collaborating with various groups and departments, manage Emergency Response situations, and maintain operating budgets.

    On a personal level, you have advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills, are able to effectively communicate with a wide range of customers, have exceptional organisational and time management skills, are able to work in high pressure situations and prioritise effectively, have high work standards and attention to detail and be self-motivated. You will have in-depth knowledge of various agreements and legislations including, Competition and Consumer Act, Joint Venture agreements, incident methodology and current industry knowledge.
