As part of BP, Castrol is widely acknowledged as the world’s leading specialist provider of Lubricant solutions. Although best known for our expertise in developing lubricants for cars and bikes, we also produce lubricants that directly affect our daily lives in other ways such as in gas and electricity production, transport industries, construction, earth moving vehicles and the marine and industrial sector in general.
We are now recruiting a Project Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join our lubricant production plant in Spotswood for a period of 12 months. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, the role is primarily concerned with providing engineering support in the delivery of capital projects at the plant, ensuring that the team deliver fit-for-purpose engineering solutions for the business.
This role is best suited to an Engineer in the early stages of their career who would like to build on their limited exposure to project works in a manufacturing environment.
Key accountabilities • Work collaboratively with the plant Management and Projects teams across each phase of the capital project lifecycle
• Working with site personnel to provide engineering, technical, planning and project management support to minimise the impact on site operations during the project execution phase
• Review, update, administer and handover project drawings and designs
• Interfacing regularly with Operations and HSSE teams
• Providing input into risk assessment and scope of work documentation
• Assisting in the supervision of contractors on site, particularly during the project execution phase
• Identifying opportunities to minimise waste, pollution and to reduce energy consumption on site
Essential Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Essential experience and job requirements In order to be considered for this role, applicants must; be able to read and interpret P&IDs and; be familiar with permit to work systems, HAZIDs, HAZOPs and risk assessments.
At all times, your priority will be to ensure that all designs, construction work and operations activities are fulfilled in accordance with BP and regulatory HSSEQ standards.

Desirable criteria & qualifications It is preferable that applicants have had prior experience working in a manufacturing facility during capital project works.
Candidates with experience working with tanks and pumps will be viewed favourably, as will those with experience working in the oil and gas industry.
