About the role
We are seeking diverse and talented applications for our 2017 Mines Traineeship Program, residential to Newman on a 2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off roster. In this residential role you will be based in Newman, Western Australia. You will be working at the closely located ‘Mount Whaleback’ mine site, which at more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world.
This is an outstanding opportunity for candidates to develop a dynamic and fulfilling career within the mining industry. The program is designed to develop cultured, engaged, highly skilled and work ready trainees to the business, via structured practical and theoretical training competencies.

Applicants wishing to apply for the BHP Mines Traineeship Program must meet the following criteria;
- Hold a Current and Valid WA “C” class manual drivers licence;
- Demonstrate basic organisational, administrative and computing skills;
- Hold a high commitment to safety systems and procedures;
- Ability to communicate effectively with others;
- Enthusiasm to learn and motivation to succeed;

This intake is a great opportunity for our Trainees at Mt Whaleback, as we are offering Newman residential positions.
