Social media and marketing role too

We are a small but established architectural studio with projects are primarily up-scale individual homes, renovations of the same, townhouses, and some retail/commercial projects. We design mainly in Sydney but also have a few projects in the NSW country and overseas.

Working in a converted warehouse building in the design hub of Sydney (Surry Hills and Redfern). Close to Central station, numerous cafes, shops etc.

Working closely with the Director and Project Architect you will take projects from schematic design through to construction documentation. You will assist in Contract Administration whilst projects are in construction and be confident communicating with building sub-contractors.

We typically work concurrently on about 10 to 15 projects, and generally complete around 20 projects each year. The role is available immediately for an initial 3 month period, and you will be required to assist with documentation excellence on high spec / value residential projects.

Job Description

This role will be a contract position for 3 months with the view to become full time. We are open to casual of full time role. Your role will be basically to allow the Director to spend more time on projects and expanding the practice into new areas, and will include:

General office duties

Assisting the Director with marketing content and social media management

Preparing documentation for Concept Design, Design Development, Development Applications, Tender Documentation and Construction Documentation

Product research for materials, furniture, fittings etc.

The salary package offered is commensurate upon your skills & experience. Part-time options are welcome for the right candidates.

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills & Experience you will need:
A documentation portfolio of premium individual homes in Australia – NOT project homes/volume housing.

A working knowledge of Sydney’s design control legislation.

3D Vectorworks PREFERRED, or 2D Vectorworks DESIRABLE. ArchiCAD or other BIM skills and experience will also be considered.

Complete Vectorworks, Photoshop & Excel

A minimum of 5 years post-grad experience assisting a Director in managing projects in a leading major design practice, or in a small respected design studio

Excellent written & spoken English

The presence & confidence to handle telephone enquiries from diverse high-end clients

Organisational skills to help meet budget & programme targets

Experience in other project types such as multi-unit residential or other types is desirable– which would value-add to the studio’s capabilities.
